Contraptions

Contraptions

An ongoing series where I use a standard composition based loosely on an abstracted cardboard solar cook stove containing a muiin tin. I have employed the modernist strategy of exploring colour relationships through a repeated format– looking at artists such as Joseph Albers and pulling from formative experiences studying with formalists such as David Cantine in Edmonton– while also using the domestic muiin tin and hints of representational space to complicate the modernist ideal and introduce a domestic inflection.
